Roadside Graves on The Moon


Another relatively recently released album brought to my attention by the AV Club and another great American band that gets little attention over here over in Blighty, even on "the home of new music" BBC 6 Music.  Country, folk, Cajun, southern gospel, and rock ‘n’ roll. The Band, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen have all apparently been cited as influences, but the band they remind me most of is early Wilco, with also and an element of Fishermen's Blues era Waterboys thrown in.

Like many Wilco records, it starts with an ambling epic, but later on, has some great straight up rock ‘n’ roll and some very fine quieter folky moments, all with great lyrics. It is their fifth studio album all of which you can stream/sync from the usual places, plus there is some extra stuff on their Bandcamp page. Check out the latest via Spotify below:
